2 down, 1 to go

We finished the master bathroom renovations in January this year. All in all, that took us 3 weeks to complete after a 2 year wait. The bath tub is a perfect sanctuary after a particular stressful day. The hot water is a bit slow, but a new pump {after the contractor blew up the one we bought} would soon rectify that. The main item that takes up half the room size is the bath tub for two which the girls simply adore on Sundays.

Just about now, the office in the attic is being finalised. The lighting, telephone lines and electrical requirement are being fine-tuned, built-in cabinets being fixed and the steps would be coming in 2 weeks time. All in all that would take 5 weeks to complete and I expect to do creative work in my own office with attached window garden in 2 weeks time.

Our next project would be the kitchen.

Ahhh...everything is not working and we have done away with half the original cabinets as they were rotting badly. The cause? The pipes behind them were leaking. We can't find out why yet. The kitchen is used primarily to store all groceries, as the homework centre for the younger girls and it also houses the big dining table that doubles up as workspace, chit chat corner, craft centre...Serious family meetings and confrontations are held in the living room.

Cooking is not done in the kitchen.
That is relegated to the wet-kitchen area.

We also need a message centre and a huge fridge {we are talking 8-person household here}.

Here are some inspiring kitchens.

Airy and low...
Being hardly 5' tall, I hate to reach for things high up.
Plus, I love paintings in the kitchen.

Perfect for our small-sized kitchen

Message centre cum fridge - perfect!

Tremendous Tree Houses

7 Tremendous Tree Houses | Gallery | Glo
A place to call my own
Is not a chateau made of stone
Not a mansion in the city
That is not the place for me

Give me a lofty perch up high
Where the clouds are just outside
And the breeze...the gentle breeze
Gently sways the trees

Inspirational Home Offices

As the girls grow older, there is a clamour for personal space. I have saved some premium space for myself when I did up a small office with a view - a tiny terracota potted garden made bigger with mirrors - My own personal work space. It is still a work in progress - here are some ideas.

NICE TO HAVES
Here are some items which would complement the home office.

Yes the double screens - all I need is an additional graphic card and two hugh flat monitors!

And lovely desk accessories...

This beautiful display, while lovely might take up too much precious space

This would help me restore my books when I repair old book covers and stuff

MY DILEMMA
An all-white room or a dark and dramatic olive and chocolate hide-away. As I use the room only at night for now, the latter might be the better alternative.

Or a white room with dark brown and olive highlights to bring out the garden.

AND FOR DOWNSTAIRS...

Aha! Just the thing for our cluttered and ugly closet.
